October CWC Update

Carrizozo Woman’s Club meeting as held on  9 October 2025 at 10 AM Treasurer's Report Molly shared financial information. The Treasurer's report is on file. Any questions should be directed to her. She had paid first installment of insurance. Quick Books (used for financials) is now being purchased through Tech Soup, a cloud-based organization supporting non-profits. This saved us a considerable amount. As Casa MaƱana has sold, books are being changed to reflect non-profit status. We had several guests! (I hope I didn't miss any. This part went quickly! If I missed someone, let me know so I can fix this.) Guests included Hope, from White Oaks, who manages the 408 gallery; Connie, a former Carrizozo resident who has recently returned; and Brittany & Cadence who are new residents as of this summer. August 2025 CWC Update

Image
First off - I hope everyone is having an amazing summer! Now for what has been going on and what is coming up... Landscaping The landscape committee has met several times and has some awesome plans (and I'm not just saying that because I am on the committee ;) ). With all of the flooding in Ruidoso, we have run into a bit of a slowdown regarding getting work started, as folks who would do our work have their hands full up there. Never fear, faithful CWC members! While the forward momentum may have slowed a bit, it has not stalled out. Molly will offer a more detailed update at our September meeting. Carrizozo Not-for-Profit Alliance Thinking way back to our last meeting, we reported that the newly formed Alliance is working on a fall festival. Well, we have been hard at work all summer to pull together what is going to be an amazing event for the entire family! In addition to what you see on the postcard, we are excited to share we are planning to have a beer garden! More details ...

Lap Blanket Wrap-Up

Image
Once again, the members of the Carrizozo Woman’s Club came together to make a difference! New Mexico Woman’s Club chapters were asked to buy or make lap blankets to be added to tote bags for cancer patients. CWC contributed more blankets than any other club! Members purchased completed blankets, crocheted blankets, made tied fleece blankets…and I know I am leaving something out. All help is greatly appreciated! A total of 200 tote bags were assembled and distributed to clubs to meet needs in their own communities. In addition to the very nice totes themselves, which include a wonderful hand pouch, the bags contained the lap blankets, lip balm, an eye mask, scented soaps, lotion, and a bottle of water. We were given 20 assembled bags for distribution to individuals who are battling cancer: locals, people we know, local oncology clinics/cancer centers. As of the May meeting, two had been given out, and two were given out after that. The first week of June, the remaining totes were t...
