October CWC Update

Treasurer's Report
Molly shared financial information. The Treasurer's report is on file. Any questions should be directed to her.
She had paid first installment of insurance. Quick Books (used for financials) is now being purchased through Tech Soup, a cloud-based organization supporting non-profits. This saved us a considerable amount. As Casa Mañana has sold, books are being changed to reflect non-profit status.
We had several guests! (I hope I didn't miss any. This part went quickly! If I missed someone, let me know so I can fix this.) Guests included Hope, from White Oaks, who manages the 408 gallery; Connie, a former Carrizozo resident who has recently returned; and Brittany & Cadence who are new residents as of this summer.
Bingo for Boobs (Susan S. for Yolla)
We are keeping name Bingo for Boobs, even though it is not during October (Breast Cancer Awareness month). It will be held at the Club on November 15, 5 PM – 7 PM. Yolla has the equipment and will run the event. Volunteers are needed to provide baked goods and to help run the event. Proceeds will be split between a local organization (TBD) and the organization we donated to last year to supply free mammograms for women in Lincoln County.
Building Update (Molly)
The Fire Chief inspected the property. We needed to add fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, so Molly purchased items at Costco and requested reimbursement. The units purchased detect both smoke and carbon monoxide and include 10-year batteries. An Evacuation Plan is needed. Juaquina volunteered to do this.
Landscape update
No one is under contract at this point. Sue Stearns has a contact for a man who will clear the property. He has a skid to remove unwanted debris. Prior to scraping, we will clear the beds to make it clear what sections need to be scraped. Troy (Katie’s son) can do drip irrigation, which will be installed in the garden beds.
Adopt a Highway (Submitted by Janet)
Susan Lockhart treated the workers to breakfast at Jenn’s Sweet Spot.
Holiday Hoedown
Eleven vendors have signed up, and we are still seeking more vendors @ $40 per table. Vendor set-up is on Thursday, Nov. 6th from noon – 6 PM and Nov. 7th from 8 – 9 AM

In addition to the vendors, we will have food to buy! Friday options are Posole & chicken noodle. On Saturday we will offer a traditional holiday meal.
Volunteers are still needed!

Bake Sale
The Bake Sale will be held on Friday from 9 AM until we run out of goodies. Nordis is organizing with the help of Linda Archuleta, who will also run the event that day as Nordis will be out of town.
Looking for breads, pies, cookies, and bars, and items will be priced. Baked goods can be dropped off during vendor set-up times.
Bake sale proceeds go to help pay for members to participate in the conventions.
Membership
Molly gave the membership report, indicating we had 35 current members. By the end of the meeting, this needed to be updated as several new members joined that day!
Updated rosters were emailed out (check your inbox for an email from Janet on Oct. 27) and printed copies will be available at meetings for those who do not have printing option at home.
She also made note of forms available, including one for tracking volunteer hours. Did you know that if you volunteer with any organization, the Woman's Club would like to know. And while there may not be an app for that, there is a form for that! You can pick one up at the next meeting.
Convention
The upcoming state convention is April 24-25 in Portales. More information to come. Members are encouraged to consider attending. Costs can be reduced by having several attendees share an Air BnB, as has been done for previous conventions.
New Mexico is part of the South Central Region. This is the six-state region including Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. Regional Convention 2026 will be held in the fall. You can learn more about the South Central Region by following their Facebook page.
• Our international organization is General Federation of Woman’s Clubs. The 2026 GFWC Annual Convention is June 26-29, in Scottsdale, Arizona. More information about this convention can be found on the convention website.
Blast from the Past
Sue Stearns filled in for Sharon and shared about the 14th Annual Hoedown. Town businesses held open houses on the same day. A map was shared, and 34 businesses participated.
December Holiday Party
The December 11 meeting will be a Potluck event with games and optional gift exchange. An organizer is needed! Please contact Janet if you would like to take on this fun responsibility.

A New Correspondence Secretary was needed, as Katie White Calf is moving. No sooner was the vacancy announced than Colleen Stout volunteered! Thank you, Colleen! We truly appreciate you stepping in with literally a moments' notice.
Dog Park Update
Juaquina shared that this is still a work in progress. Space by the recycling bins (behind museum) has been made available, but a lot of work still needs to be done, including clearing and fencing. Between work, family, and general life stuff, this will take time to get to. Brittany mentioned she has experience training dogs and would be happy to help if something of this nature were organized.
Toys for Tots
Juaquina's next update was about Toys for Tots. Toys for newborn through 18 years old are being collected through boxes located around town, including at the Town Hall, Jenn’s, Otero, and more. Food boxes will also be distributed – more info to come.
Contact Jaquina to help with these efforts or if you know an individual or family who needs help. For those unable to go shopping, checks are accepted.
Light up the Night
Molly shared for Anne E. about funding for this upcoming town even. In the past the Club has donated $100 to help with the costs of putting on the Light Up the Night Event. She request that the club donate this year, as well, and that motion passed quickly and without dissension.

Hostesses for next month: Katie, Margo, and Rosemary
Some may be wondering what is involved in being a meeting hostess. It is really quite easy. The hostesses for each month coordinate to provide the lunch as well as bringing a total of three door prize gifts. In addition, they arrive early (or make arrangements to come in the day before) to decorate the tables. Decorations are available at the Club, and this need not be fancy.
