Lap Blanket Wrap-Up

Image
Once again, the members of the Carrizozo Woman’s Club came together to make a difference! New Mexico Woman’s Club chapters were asked to buy or make lap blankets to be added to tote bags for cancer patients. CWC contributed more blankets than any other club! Members purchased completed blankets, crocheted blankets, made tied fleece blankets…and I know I am leaving something out. All help is greatly appreciated! A total of 200 tote bags were assembled and distributed to clubs to meet needs in their own communities. In addition to the very nice totes themselves, which include a wonderful hand pouch, the bags contained the lap blankets, lip balm, an eye mask, scented soaps, lotion, and a bottle of water. We were given 20 assembled bags for distribution to individuals who are battling cancer: locals, people we know, local oncology clinics/cancer centers. As of the May meeting, two had been given out, and two were given out after that. The first week of June, the remaining totes were t...

January 2025 CWC Newsletter

Image
As this month's regular meeting was canceled due to weather and re-scheduling proved to be very difficult, the CWC Board determined it was best to cancel the January meeting and handle business via e-mail. As members have indicated a desire to have a newsletter once more, and as I (Susan Scott) have some limited experience with a blog, I offered to pull this together in an effort to share information and solicit help for the upcoming Valentine's Day Sale. (Please note that I am learning as I go, so it may take some time to get this "looking pretty.") Heating System Woes Wonder why we were having trouble getting the building warm? Critters decided to move into the ductwork under the Woman’s Club. They must have been a bit heavy because they fell out of the ductwork, successfully detaching it from the vents above.   Thanks to the Ventura’s John Paul, Cody and Caleb. They reattached everything.   State-Wide Art & Service Project We received a request from Minel Schl...
